My Camaro Key Wont Come Out
Well today when I got home I put my car in park and doors unlocked everything was normal.
My camaro key wont come out. To release you would pull back up and hold the release button with your thumb and let it back down. The problem started when the car had only around 5000. Within the past couple days when I turn off my car the key will not come out of the ignition and is stuck.
Now that weve tried all of the easier and likely things that can make a Camaros key get stuck that arent the key itself its time to go ahead and try to get the key out. In all the cases we have came across this is because of a problem in the shift handle knobbutton assembly. If the battery is more than 4-5 years old replace it outright. Then twist and pull the knob right off.
There is a small pin that comes out of the solenoid. The key will only get stuck in the ignition if the car is stationary which may cause the battery to go flat if it cannot be moved out of the accessory position to the off position. So my battery is completely dead and my key wont come out or move to the position to be able to come out.
General Motors recalled every 5th generation Chevrolet Camaro ever built last month due to a faulty ignition switch which may allow the key to be knocked loose if it is bumped by the drivers knee. Once power is restored the key will come out. I placed a piece of 516 vacuum hose over the pin to hold it in the unlocked position.
